Student-Led · HBCU-Powered · Congo-Focused

Give a step.Change a life.

A student-led humanitarian movement delivering shoes, food, clothing, and dignity to families across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Mission Statement

Suffering does not
receive equal
attention.

Across the world, suffering does not look the same on every continent — and it does not receive the same attention. While the world has rightly rallied around crises like Palestine and Gaza, the humanitarian tragedy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been largely overlooked in mainstream media.

Today, millions in the Congo face extreme poverty, displacement, and food insecurity — many as a result of decades of conflict, resource exploitation, and economic instability. Families go days without meals, children walk barefoot in harsh conditions, and basic essentials we often take for granted are scarce.

SHOETHICS: Hope Across Borders is a student-led humanitarian movement focused on equipping Congolese families with dignity, mobility, and nourishment through community-driven aid.

Change begins with those who refuse to look away.

The Crisis

Why the Congo?

01

Severe Humanitarian Challenges

Communities across the Congo are facing extreme poverty and displacement driven by decades of conflict, resource exploitation, and economic instability.

02

Children Walking Barefoot

Many children walk barefoot through harsh conditions every day — risking disease, injury, and the loss of something as simple as the dignity of a pair of shoes.

03

Food Insecurity

Families go days without meals. Food insecurity and lack of access to basic goods remain urgent, daily realities for millions.

04

A Crisis Overlooked

We believe ignoring suffering is not an option. While mainstream media looks elsewhere, we act where help is needed most.

What We Do

Collecting & shipping
hope, by hand.

Shoes

Mobility is dignity. Every donated pair protects a child's feet and restores the freedom to walk, run, and go to school safely.

Canned Food & Nutrition

Nutrition essentials and canned goods that keep families nourished through the most urgent stretches of the crisis.

Clothing

Clean, durable clothing collected on campus and shipped directly to families who need protection from harsh conditions.

Accountability

Every donation,
accounted for.

Every donation is tracked from the moment it leaves your hands. Transparency isn't a feature of this movement — it's the foundation.

01

Certified Campus Drop-Off

Donations are received at certified campus drop-off boxes at Howard, NCCU, and Morehouse.

02

Daily Volunteer Check-Ins

Verified student volunteers check every drop-off point daily so nothing sits unattended.

03

Sealed Immediately

Bags and boxes are sealed immediately after pickup to protect every item in transit.

04

Logged & Tracked

Every collection is logged into a donation tracking sheet — date, category, and location.

05

Secured Until Shipment

Donations are held in a secured storage location before transport to the sorting site and shipment to the Congo.

Hope travels. Compassion crosses borders. And change begins with those who refuse to look away.
